How to stop thinking about your work once you get home?
Our days are busy and full of interaction. In the evening, you want to rest and leave your problems at the office. Discover 5 ways to disconnect at home!
Update the to-do list for the next day
Before you leave the company, tidy up your workplace a little. Do the same with your thoughts, which are often overloaded with small things to think about for the next day.
Update your to-do list, write small details down in black and white and divide up the tasks for the coming days. By doing this, you will clear your head and leave with a more relaxed attitude. This serene feeling will also have an effect when you arrive at the office the next day.
Make the transition from the office to your home
Once you've settled into bus, metro or traffic jam (!), put that mobile away and stop checking your emails. Instead, use this moment to let your gaze wander away after a day behind a screen. Think about what you are going to do once you get home.
Doing sport helps you to relax!
A good way to stop thinking about work, is to release the tension you've built up before going home. A session of squash, half an hour of swimming or simply getting off the metro a stop earlier to walk home, will help you to blow off steam.
Prepare a well balanced meal
Has the morning rush forced you to have yet another quick lunch in front of the screen? Don't repeat the same scenario at home under the pretext of having a thousand and one things to do.
Take the time for preparing a meal: by doing so, you can forget about the office, take care of yourself, prepare for sleep and discover that chopping vegetables can be relaxing!
Separate your business and personal digital spheres
Once you have finished eating, you are probably tempted to check your personal emails, surf or search the internet.
To avoid running into your work mail when you open your tablet or mobile phone, change the home page of your web sessions. Create your own digital garden for yourself, with a personal address that is not linked to your work address.
Too late? Have you seen an e-mail from that customer you' ve been trying to reach all day? Take a deep breath and wait: there are always contacts and partners who respond to business e-mails after their working day. However, they don't expect you to do the same and they know the office hours. So set a deadline for replying to that email and close your mailbox!
