The monitor arm test
Ludovic, Marketing & Digital Director at Bruneau, tested a swivel arm (Fellowes Eppa) which can carry two screens. A gadget or a concrete contribution to well-being at work? Installation, set-up, use ... He tells us all about it!

A straightforward and reliable installation
You don't have to be a handyman to install this monitor arm. When it comes out of the box, there are two mounting systems to choose from: a clamp that needs to be screwed to the back of the desk, or a system with eyelets, if you have a cable hole on the worktop (handy if you have limited space behind the desk). The tools and screws included are individually indicated in a very clear and visual instruction sheet, in other words: impossible to make a mistake. 🙂
As far as sturdiness is concerned, I can work with complete peace of mind! There is just one screw to tighten according to the weight of your screens, and that's it. With this model, I can relax, which was not the case with my previous monitor arm where I had to tighten each screw or risk seeing the screen fall off!
A sleek and stylish workspace
Once installed, I rediscover my desk in a new light. This screen support arm looks great thanks to its design and its white matt finish (for your information: it also comes in black). As a bonus - and not the least - no more dangling cables! The passage of the cables through the arms makes for a neat and more secure environment. Nice touch 🙂
In terms of organisation, the arm frees up space. Ideal when you are teleworking and have limited working space or when you need a lot of surface to put files on ... In all cases, your workplace is lighter and much more pleasant than with imposing monitors sitting on your desk.
A highly flexible ergonomic system
You can vary the position of the screens endlessly: move them, push them away, place them close together, tilt them up or down... I can do anything with it! I have a large range of movement and all articulations work smoothly and precisely.
In addition, this screen support arm is ergonomically perfect, as it allows the distance and height between the eyes and the screen to be adjusted correctly. This increases comfort and helps preventing headaches and neck pain.
In practice, a monitor arm also makes it easier to hold informal meetings around your desk, as you can easily turn the screens in the direction of the people you are talking to. This is especially true in combination with a sit-stand desk.
Conclusion
In short, the monitor support arm is anything but a gadget. I find it a practical, ergonomic and comfortable accessory when working alone, but it is also a real asset when working together! Highly recommended.
The pros
- Easy installation
- Robust (each arm is capable of supporting up to 8 kg)
- Aesthetic cable ducts
- Ergonomic thanks to the flexibility of the arms
- Reasonable price
The cons
- This system is a bit imposing: it requires a lot of space in front of the desk, but there exist also supports with only one arm 😉
- The absence of screw covers on some screws (but that's a quibble...)
