Well-being at work: living better together with your screen!

Working on a screen in less than ideal conditions can lead to eyestrain, musculoskeletal disorders and stress. Here are some tips to avoid these problems! Well-being at work: living better together with your screen!
Reducing fatigue and discomfort depends on how you adjust your workstation, monitor and lighting.

Adjust your workplace

Here are some rules to help you achieve the most comfortable position for reading on the screen and typing on the keyboard:
Your thighs should be horizontal and your feet flat on the floor; The angle between your arm and forearm should not be less than 90° and your hand should be in line with the forearm. The top of the monitor should be at eye level.

You can also use a footrest if your feet don't rest on the floor and adjust the height of the backrest of your chair to ensure it provides support for your lower back and back curvature.

Adjust your screen

Leave a space of at least 10 cm between the space bar of the keyboard and the edge of the table, but try to type as often as possible without leaning on the table.Adjust the brightness of your screen. Choose a display with a light background. This is less tiring for the eyes than a dark display and reflections are less visible.

Adjust the lighting in your office

Windows, lights and reflections from shiny surfaces can cause glare on the screen. To avoid this:
Rotate your screen slightly; the ideal layout is one where the screen is positioned at a right angle to the windows.Use blinds or curtains;Position a spotlight to illuminate your documents without creating reflections on your screen.

Work in a relaxed way!

Designing your workstation is an important issue, but there are other ways to avoid fatigue:
Take your eyes off the screen from time to time and look into the distance. This gives your vision a break.Change your posture from time to time during the day by varying, for example, the angle of your backrest. There is no such thing as an ideal posture if you keep it fixed for too long a time.Take a 5-10 minute break every hour if you work continuously at a screen and if you have the opportunity. Leave your workstation, move around and do some stretching exercises.
