Peppol: mandatory from 01/01/2026
From 1 January 2026, we will send
our invoices via Peppol.
To ensure smooth cooperation, we kindly request that you take the
necessary steps to ensure that you can receive our electronic invoices correctly.
What is Peppol?
Peppol (Pan-European Public Procurement Online) is a European network
that companies and public authorities can use from 1 January 2026 to
exchange invoices with each other in a secure and standardised manner.
Mandatory from 2026
From 2026 onwards, all electronic invoicing via the Peppol network will be mandatory.
This applies to all transactions between Belgian VAT-registered companies (B2B),
regardless of whether they are small or large companies or self-employed persons.
How does it work?
Peppol acts as a digital bridge between suppliers and customers by sharing
electronic invoices in a secure and simple manner. To do this, you need a Peppol
ID, which serves as a unique ID that allows someone to communicate with you.
Your Peppol ID
A Peppol ID is a unique combination of numbers, just like your telephone number in
the telecom network. It consists of a Scheme ID (country code) and Participant ID
(organisation number). In Belgium, the CBE number is mainly used as the organisation
number, while in the Netherlands it is the Chamber of Commerce number.
Advantages of Peppol.
Using this network ensures faster processing and improved automation with less
chance of errors and lower costs. Peppol invoices can also be sent directly to
your accounting software, which greatly minimises manual data entry.
We are getting ready too!
Bruneau is currently busy preparing for Peppol in 2026.
We will communicate more about this as soon as we can.
